The Viet vase owes its smooth lines and functional attractiveness to a blend of fortune and foresight; the designer, a blind Cambodian artist, was attempting to shape a barrel vase when a dollop of molten glass slipped from the blow-tube onto his barefoot and, as he expelled his breath in a silent scream of anguish, this sleek, angular result was achieved – in the recovery ward, he felt what he had created, liked the smooth lines and he stuck with it.
It is a versatile and attractive item, suitable for both flowers and flowery words of recognition.
